Shanghai, my hometown, was born along the Huangpu River, the “mother river” that has witnessed its transformation. My camera traces both banks, from the colonial Bund to the industrial remnants of the planned economy, and finally to the modern skyline of Lujiazui.

Through these images, the red bricks of Gothic churches contrast with the blue glass of skyscrapers, while silos and power plants find new life through renewal. Each structure bears the marks of its time, together forming a visual record of Shanghai’s architectural evolution and the broader story of China’s modernization.
